Saskatoon Tribal Council Education Unit (STCEU)

Mandate and Description of Program

The Saskatoon Tribal Council Education Unit (STCEU) assists member First Nations education systems with programming that is consistent with the Spirit and Intent of the treaties. Through the guidance of the seven Chiefs and their representatives on the Education Advisory Committee, the STC Education Unit assists in preparing youth for full and meaningful participation in society.

Specific Services Available

  • Provide teacher evaluation/supervision
  • Provide administrator evaluation /supervision
  • Planning of new schools
  • Planning of programs and curriculum – literacy, special needs
  • Assist in embedding First Nations content and perspectives in program and curriculum
  • Updating policies for boards and schools
  • Assist in board training
  • Assist in partnerships established with other institutions
  • Provide professional development and in-services to staff
  • coordination of youth, sports, culture, and recreation events through the YSCR staff
  • educational programming through the Super Saturday program staff

Program criteria including age group served

  • Education unit provides assistance to seven First Nations bands in education, youth, sports, culture and recreation.
