KidsFirst Program
KidsFirst is a free, voluntary program that helps families to become the best parents they can be and to have the healthiest children possible. KidsFirst families receive support from a home visitor who will provide assistance concerning child development, parenting and connecting to the community. Home visitors help families to access services including early learning, childcare and transportation. Families enrolled in the KidsFirst program receive at least one home visit per week.
Services available through the KidFirst Program:
- Home visitation—in home an a weekly basis
- Counselling—KidsFirst employs professional counsellors who work one-on one with families in our program as well as providing consultation with home visitors.
- ECIP—KidsFirst has a half time Early Childhood Intervention worker dedicated to helping children in the KidsFirst program.
- Speech Pathologist-- KidsFirst has a dedicated Speech Pathologist who assesses and refers kids within our program.
- Daycare—KidsFirst has spaces in several daycares in the target neighbourhoods for families returning to school or work.
- Transportation—KidsFirst home visitors help with transportation to medical and other pre-booked appointments.
Parents and their children under the age of five years who live in the Saskatoon neighbourhoods of: Pleasant Hill, Holiday Park, Meadowgreen, Riversdale, King George, and Confederation Suburban Centre will be assessed for eilgability.
