STC's Mascot

Journey the Rezdog

The Saskatoon Tribal Council has adopted a new mascot designed to engage children and youth about staying in school and other positive messaging. The new mascot has made his debut throughout 2014 representing STC at various events and activities.

Throughout January and early February, the mascot visited rural and city schools to introduce a creative contest for students to name the mascot and tell his life story. The contest was highly successful with more than 1170 entries from 25 participating schools.

Kielyn Scott from the grade 6 class at Westmount Community School was awarded the best name prize for her entry, "Journey". Tallyn Eagle from the grade 5 class at Whitecap Elementary won the prize for best story.

The name “Journey” compliments the story of “Max” about perseverance despite the real life challenges that many youth face. The name speaks to the many different kinds of journeys in life such as personal, healing, educational, health, spiritual journeys. Journey’s message is to live a positive life and make healthy choices.
