After-Hours Family Support Worker - Kinistin Saulteaux Nation

Casual / Part-Time Position Available


Kinistin Saulteaux Nation requires two energetic and highly motivated After Hours Family Support Workers. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing after hours support services to families in the community of Kinistin Saulteaux Nation. In this position, you will coordinate and support after hours programming in the community. This may require transport of families, lifting and carrying small children, and will require flexible hours. The successful candidates will also be responsible to provide after-hours emergency services for families and respond to crisis situations within the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. You will be on a weekly rotation with another After Hours Support Worker. Crisis situations may include contact with the Ministry of Social Services, RCMP, Managers within Kinistin Wellness Center and supporting families and community members during these times of crisis. This position will play a key role in the Mental Wellness Strategy of Kinistin Saulteaux Nation. The successful applicants must display a positive attitude towards teamwork and inter-departmental communication. The successful candidates will be responsible for communicating with day time staff and making all necessarily outside referrals as well as connecting clients to services within the community.

  • Ability to assess risk and safety
  • Ability to safety plan with families in crisis
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills amongst team members and clients
  • General knowledge of child development
  • General working knowledge of computer systems (Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet)
  • Ability to work productively as a member of a team as well as independently
  • Knowledge of Kinistin Saulteaux Nation and community values considered an asset
  • Selfmotivated and organized
  • Ability to keep timely and accurate documentation
     

Qualifications

  • Two plus years work experience in the Human Services field
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a degree in the Human Services field
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Must have a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Ability to speak and understand Saulteaux considered an asset
  • Applicant must have an open mind regarding culture and have a general understanding of the impacts of Residential School and Intergenerational Trauma.
  • Must promote and adhere to a positive and healthy lifestyle.
  • Successful candidate is required to abide by standards of Confidentiality as outlined by Kinistin Saulteaux Nation
