General Labourer (Youth Internship) - Whitecap Dakota First Nation

Whitecap Dakota First Nation is hiring a full-time General Labourer for a 20-week Work Experience Program.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible applicants must be a Registered Indian.
  • Eligible applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 during the internship.
  • Successful candidate must be willing to participate in mandatory safety training.


Reporting to the Director of Housing & Public Works, the General Labourer will primarily be responsible for assisting Housing Department staff. Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment such as hand, portable and stationary power tools;
  • Assist with site layout, site preparation and temporary structures;
  • Load, unload and move material to assigned worksites;
  • Prepare painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint;
  • Mix, match, and apply paint and other finishes to various indoor and outdoor surfaces;
  • Assist with the layout of framing systems such as floors, walls and ceilings;
  • Assist with the construction of framing systems such as floors, walls and ceilings;
  • Assist with the installation of exterior doors and windows;
  • Assist with minor and major renovations; and
  • Any other related duties as assigned.
