Managing Trustee Yellow Quill Treaty Land Entitlement/Yellow Quill Holdings Inc.

Yellow Quill First Nation (YQFN) is requiring an experienced Managing Trustee to Yellow Quill Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE). This individual must possess a good understanding of business constitutions, provide inspired leadership to an established YQFN TLE team, establish positive working relationship with YQFN Council. The individual shall develop and implement the course of strategy for the YQFN TLE. .  This positon involves networking with government officials, external Agencies and other First Nations and maintaining contacts. Yellow Quill First Nation reserves the right to give preference to a qualified registered YQFN band member.

Managing Trustee Responsibilities:

  • Report to the YQFN Membership and Council and keep them informed.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for YQFN TLE/.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for YQFN TLE.
  • Help with recruiting new Trustees when necessary.
  • Oversee the fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.
  • Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with YQFN Council to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long term goals.
  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for YQFN TLE.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with other organizations.
  • Over see day-to-day operation of the YQFN TLE.
  • Constructively participate in the development of policy that will guide the sound management and administration of Yellow Quill TLE and Yellow Quill Holdings Inc.
  • Strictly adhere to a standard of ethics and conduct to make certain they conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with YQFN policies.
  • Make every reasonable effort to ensure any and all Yellow Quill TLE and Yellow Quill Holding Inc. decisions of a financial and non-financial nature are made in the best interests of Yellow Quill to mitigate risk and make certain best value is realized.


  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting designation CPA, CA, CGA or CIA, or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Proven proficiency with economic development projects. 
  • The ability to read and understand and develop financial statements with a minimum of 7 years’ business experience.
  • High level of competency using computer software (MS Office, accounting software, web portals, etc.)
  • Ability to provide a Criminal Records Check.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including proposal writing experience.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and confident manner to work independently and interdependently and with TLE Board and staff.
  • Knowledge of municipal, provincial, federal legislation affecting First Nations.
  • Knowledge of federal legislation on Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety, and Human Rights.
  • Experience in Risk Management, Management Information Systems, Organizational Sustainability, First Nations Administration.
  • Knowledge of Salteaux culture and language would be an asset.
