Receptionist (Youth Internship) - Whitecap Dakota First Nation

Whitecap Dakota First Nation is hiring a full-time Housing and Public Works Receptionist for a 20-week Work Experience Program.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible applicants must be a Registered Indian.
  • Eligible applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 during the internship.
  • Successful candidate must be willing to participate in mandatory safety training.


Reporting to the Director of Housing & Public Works, the Receptionist will primarily be responsible for greeting clients and performing daily receptionist duties. Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Greet all visitors in a prompt and courteous manner;
  • Answer/transfer calls, take and record accurate messages;
  • Direct visitors to appropriate personnel as required;
  • Manage the reception voicemail box and change the voicemail greetings for holidays or change of office hours as required; ensure reception area is kept neat and organized;
  • Update daily staff itineraries as required;
  • Monitor office equipment and inform supervisor of any malfunctions;
  • Prepare internal forms such as Work Orders, Purchase Orders and Cheque Requisitions as directed;
  • Collect and distribute incoming correspondence such as mail, faxes and notices for employees at the HPW Office;
  • Preparing outgoing mail for Housing & Public Works;
  • Maintain supply of various employee forms staff, i.e., timesheets, leave forms, etc.;
  • Fax and photocopy correspondence as required; and
  • Any other related duties as assigned.
