Job Title: Grad Mentor
Position: August 22, 2022- June 30, 2023
Location: Kinistin First Nation
Term: Full Time
Compensation: Will vary based on Education and
Experience

OVERVIEW
The successful applicant will work closely with school administration and support staff at TMSS and KEC, to support student achievement guided by the partnership goals between Kinistin Saulteaux Nation, North East School Division and Saskatoon Tribal Council:
• Creating a safe, engaging environment that is reflective of student culture and interests.
• Creating connections and a sense of belonging amounts students.
• Creating opportunity for students to build their identity.
• Caring for and believing in students and their culture, ensuring each student has one significant adult at school.

Duties:
• To help students reach their goals
• To provide guidance and help increase the mentee’s exposure to new experiences
• To provide learning opportunities
• To provide a safe environment in which the mentee can make mistakes without losing credibility
• To enhance the mentee’s self-esteem through supportive, non-judgmental discussions

Qualifications:
• Possess a bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work or Psychology from a recognized post-secondary institution
• Experience working with aboriginal children and youth
• Experience working with at-risk youth and their families
• Strong organizational skills
• Be willing to work a flexible schedule
• Have a valid driver’s license with access to a motor vehicle

REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must be punctual, well spoken, efficient, discreet and pleasant on the telephone and in person. Must be computer literate and must be a problem-solver, ready to find effective solutions. To be able to “go with the flow” on some days is a must! Must have the ability to understand respect and want to learn the beliefs, culture and traditions of the Nakawe Nation. Provide a valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
