Indigenous Birth Support Worker Program

This six week program will provide you with the education needed to provide emotional support and physical comfort to women, their partners and their families during the birthing process. Students will receive training with an integrated cultural perspective. The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) will be a partner in this project and potential employer upon successful completion of the program.

Knowledge of the following would be considered an asset:  

  • Indigenous cultures
  • The history of Indigenous People in Canada
  • Ability to speak 1 or more Indigenous languages

Applicants must be at least 18 years or older, sumbit High School or GED transcripts and undergo a criminal record check with volunterable sector search.

Funding options are available for qualified Metis and First Nation Applicants.
