Oliver Cameron OC 1944-2017

Tribute to Oliver Cameron

Oliver Cameron officially started with the Saskatoon Tribal Council in 1986, but he was a District Representative for what was known as Saskatoon District Chief's before becoming the Saskatoon Tribal Council. He "officially" retired in December 2011, but was still a part of many of the STC events after his retirement; he was our resident Master of Ceremonies and coordinator for the seasonal pipe ceremonies.

He will be remembered for his sense of humour and good nature. OC will be dearly missed, he was friendly and always had a pleasant greeting for everyone.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Cameron and children, Nadine Badger, Roberta Bear, Colleen Cameron-Bergen, Anita Cameron, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many extended family members.

His home community was Beardy's & Okemasis First Nation, but he will always be remembered as a member of the STC family. A favourite phrase he typically used was, "No business." OC was recently at our STC offices on March 17th for the Spring Pipe Ceremony. He would randomly just drop in and visit old friends at STC....OC, we will miss you.
