Special Education Program


Description of Program

The Special Education Consultant (SEC) is responsible for providing administrative leadership in Special Education, and assisting school staff in their task of providing effective academic and behavioural programming for students with special needs.  

Special Education Teacher Services

Assist teachers in the development/promotion of effective administration policies and procedures for special education programming in the seven member First Nation schools.

Provide special education and behaviour teachers with consultative support, resources, and materials for the purpose of developing and facilitating effective individual student programming.                   

Provide Special Education teachers with instruments for effective student assessment, instructional level placement and needs responsive program supports.

Assist the special education teachers in each of the seven member First Nation schools in developing effective school and community based behaviour intervention plans.

Coordinate and facilitate professional development and in-service opportunities for special education teachers from the seven member First Nation schools.

Facilitate the assessment processes of Educational Psychologists and other professionals for programming and funding purposes.
