oskayak wikiwaw Young Men’s Home

Description of Program

The Safe House is a safe place for children and youth who have been or at risk of being sexually exploited on the street.  For youth that have no safe place to go and in need of shelter. The Safe House has five beds, offers youth 16 years of age or younger, a safe place to stay from one house up to one month. The Safe House is open 24 hours, 7days a week, three hundred & sixty five days a year.

On July 1, 2010 the oskinikiwikamik (young men’s home) was renamed oskayak wikiwaw (Children’s Home) and is located in Saskatoon.  With the expansion of three more beds the revised child care facility continues to serve apprehended children six to twelve years of age with a special focus on siblings in care.  It is a temporary home that allows siblings in care to remain together within a safe and nurturing environment.

The oskayak wikiwaw is status blind meaning all genders, races, and cultures are accepted.
