Community Addictions Prevention Program – CAPP

Mandate and Description of Program

The goal of the Community Addictions Program is to assist the STC member communities with providing individualized holistic comprehensive addictions services. Through ongoing operational and technical support, the STC CAPP Coordinator assists communities’ work towards the provision of a continuum of care services in the area of alcohol and drug use, prescription drugs, inhalants, tobacco, and gambling.

Specific Services Available

  • In service and training opportunities to front line service providers included
  • CAPP meetings allow for technical and practical assistance and the provision of current and up-to-date information on best practices approaches to dealing with addictions, and counselling methods.
  • Assistance and/or support for awareness and education events.
  • Assistance provided to front-line workers in the development of annual work plans.

Program criteria including age group served

  • Services of the Community Addictions Prevention Program are open to all STC member communities.
