STC Responsible Gambling Outreach Treatment Program


Mandate & Description of Program

The mission of the program is to minimize or reduce the negative impacts of problem gambling on the individual, the family and the community.

The focus of this strategy is to build collaborative relationships with other health and community service organizations such as education, mental health, alcohol and drug and family services.

Specific Services Available

Education and training for service providers in:

  • Problem gambling, identifying and screening for problem gambling, and the services available
  • Working cross culturally with First Nations people
  • Prevention education so able to add prevention of problem gambling to their tool boxes

Information Dissemination - development and distribution of:

  • Culturally appropriate material for the purpose of informing and raising awareness about problem gambling
  • Kits containing information on problem gambling, a screening tool, and appropriate referral options
  • Resources Library

Case conferencing and management

  • Visiting Organizations to engage First Nations clients
  • Presentations at seminars, workshops and conferences
  • Attendance at inter-agency meetings

Program criteria including age group served

  • Any child or adult currently residing in Saskatoon may access our services
  • Working with other professionals to help them understand problem gambling and support their efforts to prevent problem gambling by providing training, resources and technical assistance.
